Terengganu

The flag of Terengganu uses a black field with white Islamic symbols near the hoist. The crescent and star represent Islam, the state’s official religion. The black field symbolizes the dignity and authority of the Sultanate. Earlier versions included a white hoist band from 1912, the addition of a white crescent and star between 1923 and 1933, and a refined arrangement used from 1933 to 1953 before the present form continued in use from the mid-20th century.
