History
The flag of Mykolaiv Oblast was adopted on 23 June 1997. Its white, yellow, and blue bands symbolize spiritual elevation, fertile agricultural land, and the region’s seas and rivers. The wavy blue stripe evokes the Black Sea coastline, while the bishop’s miter and crossed staffs honor St. Nicholas and reflect the oblast’s Orthodox heritage and naval tradition.
