History
The flag of Kabardino-Balkaria was officially adopted on 22 July 1996, replacing the earlier Soviet-era flag of the Kabardino-Balkarian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. Its blue, white, and green bands symbolize the sky and peace, the snowy Caucasus peaks and purity, and the fertile valleys, forests, and natural wealth of the republic. The central image of Mount Elbrus serves as a unifying emblem and highlights the region’s mountainous landscape.
