History
The flag of Kyiv Oblast was officially adopted on 2 February 1999. Its design was created by the artist Vasyl Bosenko. The central image of Saint George slaying a dragon is taken from the oblast’s coat of arms and symbolizes protection, bravery, and the triumph of good over evil. The blue represents the sky and the region’s rivers, while the yellow reflects fertile land and prosperity.
