History
Colón Department uses the same flag and coat of arms as its capital, Trujillo. The design follows the blue-white-blue national pattern of Honduras, and the centered Trujillo shield recalls the department’s coastal setting, maritime heritage, and the historic landing associated with Christopher Columbus. The design was documented in 2001 and was formally adopted in the early 2000s.
