The flag of Grenada features a red border with six yellow stars, a field divided into yellow top and bottom triangles and green hoist and fly triangles, a central red disk with a yellow star, and a yellow nutmeg symbol at the hoist.
The flag of Grenada was adopted on 7 February 1974 at independence. It was designed by Anthony C. George. The seven gold stars represent the country’s seven parishes, with the central star representing St. George’s. Red symbolizes courage, vitality, and the aspiration for freedom; gold represents the sun, wisdom, and warmth; green stands for fertility and agriculture. The nutmeg refers to Grenada’s long association with spice production and its identity as the “Isle of Spice.”
