Gabon

The flag of Gabon was adopted on 9 August 1960. It consists of three equal horizontal bands of green, yellow, and blue in a 3:4 proportion. The design developed from the earlier autonomous-republic flag by removing the French tricolor in the canton and widening the central yellow stripe to match the other two bands. Green represents Gabon’s equatorial forests and natural resources, yellow symbolizes the Equator and the sun, and blue stands for the Atlantic Ocean along the coast.
