The flag of Mauritius features four equal horizontal bands of red, blue, yellow, and green.
The national flag of Mauritius, known as Les Quatre Bandes, was adopted on 12 March 1968 in anticipation of independence. It was designed by Gurudutt Moher. The four equal bands are traditionally interpreted as symbolizing the struggle for independence in red, the Indian Ocean in blue, the light of freedom in yellow, and the island’s vegetation, agriculture, and prosperity in green. It replaced earlier colonial-era flags and has remained unchanged since its adoption.
