History
The flag of Bremen is used by the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and is proportioned 2:3. Its red-and-white striped design, popularly known as the Speckflagge, derives from historic Hanseatic colors associated with the city’s mercantile tradition. Modern state variants add Bremen’s white key of Saint Peter from the coat of arms, a symbol of protection, access, and the city’s historic autonomy.
