History

The flag of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was adopted on 29 January 1991 and designed by Norbert Buske. It combines the historic colors of Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania in a single design. The blue-white colors derive from Western Pomerania, while the blue-yellow-red colors come from Mecklenburg’s historic flag tradition dating to 1813.
