The flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina features a blue field with a large yellow triangle at the fly and a diagonal row of white five-pointed stars along the triangle’s edge.
The current flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina was adopted on 4 March 1998. According to the provided sources, the yellow triangle represents the country’s three main constituent peoples—Bosniaks, Serbs, and Croats—and also alludes to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s geographic position in Europe. The white stars symbolize Europe and aspirations for unity and integration. The blue and yellow draw on the historic Bosnian coat of arms. Before this design, Bosnia and Herzegovina used a socialist-era red flag with the Yugoslav emblem, and from 1992 to 1998 used a flag based on a medieval Bosnian coat of arms with fleurs-de-lis.
