The flag of the Isle of Wight shows a white diamond on a light blue field above alternating blue and white wavy bands.
The Isle of Wight flag was adopted in January 2009 after a public competition that attracted more than 350 entries and was decided by popular vote. The winning design was created by John Graney. The white diamond represents the island, the notch at its top symbolizes the River Medina, and the wavy blue and white bands express the island’s maritime character.
