History
The Scillonian Cross is the official flag of the Isles of Scilly in England. It was created in February 2002 after a public design competition run by the Scilly News and adopted through a popular vote. The flag is registered with the Flag Institute as a community island flag. Its white St Piran's cross reflects the islands' historic ties to Cornwall, the orange represents the islands' well-known sunsets, the blue stands for the surrounding sea, and the five stars represent the main islands of the archipelago.
