History
This is the county flag of Gotland, presented as a banner of arms. The ram is the long-standing emblem of the island and is associated with Gotland’s sheep-herding tradition, independence, and rural strength. The design was formally adopted as the county’s flag in the early 1970s as part of the Swedish practice of rendering coats of arms as rectangular flags.
