Froidchapelle, Belgium
#15545 · Belgium
The flag of Wallonia was introduced by the Walloon National Congress in 1913. Its red rooster, known as the coq hardi or cok walon, became a symbol of vigilance, bravery, and the French-speaking identity of the region. The yellow and red colors echo the historic hues associated with the Duchy of Brabant. The design was later confirmed as the official flag of the Walloon Region and the French Community of Belgium after the region’s establishment in the 1980s.
