Blue field with the Moravian eagle, a red-and-white chequered eagle crowned and armed in gold.
The banner of arms of Moravia reproduces the historic arms of the region: a silver eagle crowned and armed in gold, rising on a red-and-white chequered field. The red and white colors are associated with medieval Přemyslid heraldry and Moravia’s historic ties to Bohemia. The eagle has long symbolized the duchy’s sovereignty and ruling dynasty. Variants of the Moravian flag are recorded from the 13th century, and the traditional red-white banner with the Moravian eagle remains the customary historical symbol of Moravia.
