History
The unofficial flag of Vendsyssel, known as Vendelbrog, was introduced in 1976 by the mayor of Hjørring. It has no official recognition but has seen regional use and was formerly included in the insignia of the Royal Danish Air Force's 723rd Air Squadron. Its colors symbolize the surrounding sea, the sun and sandy beaches, and the region's green landscape.
