Unofficial flag of Jämtland with three horizontal stripes of blue, white, and green, featuring a centered circular seal on the white band.
The unofficial flag of Jämtland was adopted in 1983 by regional activists Kent Backman and Bo Oscarsson. Its blue, white, and green stripes represent the clear sky, the snow-capped mountains, and the forests of the region. The three bands also symbolize Jämtland’s three historic districts: Jämtland proper, Härjedalen, and the former parish of Ragunda. It has become a widely used emblem of regional identity and is commonly flown at cultural events, festivals, and private buildings.
