The flag of Bashkortostan is a horizontal tricolor of blue, white, and green with a gold stylized kurai flower centered on the white stripe.
The present flag of Bashkortostan was officially adopted on 25 February 1992 and refined in 1999, when the 1:2 proportion and the encircled golden kurai flower were established in the official design. Its colors continue the blue, green, and white scheme used on the first Bashkir national flag created in August 1918 by Akhmetzaki Validov for the Bashkir army. The seven-petalled kurai flower symbolizes friendship and the seven historic Bashkir tribes, while the blue, white, and green fields represent integrity and clear-thinking, purity and peace, and Islam, freedom, prosperity, and the natural landscape.
