Flag of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast featuring a blue field divided diagonally by a gold-edged wavy blue band, with a white lower hoist triangle bearing an armed Cossack and nine gold eight-pointed stars in the upper fly.
The flag of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast was adopted in 2002. Its imagery draws from the oblast’s coat of arms: the Zaporizhian Cossack represents the historic Zaporizhian Host, while the nine golden eight-pointed stars recall the coat of arms of the former Yekaterinoslav Governorate. The blue field symbolizes the Dnieper River, and the golden elements refer to the region’s fertile wheat fields.
