Salzburg

Salzburg, Vienna, and Vorarlberg use the same red-white horizontal civil flag within the Austrian tradition. The design is tied to the historic red-white-red colors associated with medieval Austria and the Babenberg dynasty. After the end of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, these historic colors were retained by the republic, while state or service versions added each region’s coat of arms in the center.
