Flag of Cantabria, a white-over-red horizontal bicolor with the regional coat of arms centered across the middle.
Cantabria adopted its current flag on 30 December 1981. The design continues the white-and-red bicolor used for the ship-registration flag of the maritime province of Santander established by Royal Order on 30 July 1845. The coat of arms represents elements associated with the region’s seafaring heritage, fortifications, landscape, and livestock tradition. In 2016, the Cantabrian Parliament also recognized the Cantabrian labarum as a symbol of the Cantabrian people and encouraged its display alongside the official flag.
