History
The flag of the Sakha Republic was adopted on 14 October 1992. Its design uses a light-blue field with a central white disc representing the northern sun, above narrow white, red, and green stripes. The color scheme symbolizes snow, courage and constancy, and the taiga landscape, while the blue, white, and red also reflect Sakha’s place within the Russian Federation. The design replaced earlier Soviet-era flags of the Yakut ASSR and was later codified by law on 15 July 2004.
