History
The flag of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast was designed by Alexander Dmitrievich Valyaev and adopted in 1996. It uses a 2:3 proportion. The white field symbolizes purity, while the seven-color rainbow represents peace, happiness, and goodness. The seven bands also allude to the seven-branched Menorah, the seven days of creation, and the Seven Noahide laws in Jewish tradition.
