The flag of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a vertical triband of blue, gold, and green with three green diamonds centered on the gold band in the shape of a V.
The national flag of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was adopted in 1985. It is a 2:3 Canadian-pale triband of blue, gold, and green with three green diamonds arranged in a stylized V. The diamonds refer to the initial of Vincent and to the country’s nickname, the Gems of the Antilles or Jewels of the Caribbean, giving the flag the informal name “The Gems.” The design replaced the more complex 1979 independence flag, simplifying the earlier emblem into a clearer and more easily reproduced form. The blue represents the sky and sea, the gold represents sandy beaches and the bright spirit of the people, and the green represents lush vegetation and vitality.
