Flag of Madeira, a blue-yellow-blue vertical triband with a red cross outlined in white at the center.
The flag of the Autonomous Region of Madeira was officially adopted on 8 July 1978. Its design uses blue and white to represent the Atlantic Ocean around the archipelago and peace and purity, while the gold element symbolizes the sun, wealth, and historic ties to the Portuguese Crown. The official version places the region’s coat of arms at the center.
