Sabah

Sabah adopted its current flag on 16 September 1988. The design retains Mount Kinabalu as the state emblem in the canton, shown as a dark blue silhouette on a light blue background, with the field arranged as blue over white over red. The five colours represent Sabah’s five divisions and are associated with peace and tranquility, purity and justice, courage and conviction, unity and prosperity, and strength and co-operation. Sabah previously used different state flag designs from 1963 to 1981 and from 1982 to 1988.
