History
The provincial flag of Utrecht was officially adopted on 15 January 1952. Its design combines the white cross on red associated with the Archdiocese of Utrecht with the red-and-white colors of the secular Archbishopric of Utrecht, reflecting the province’s ecclesiastical heritage. The official proportion is 9:13, though it is also commonly used in 2:3 form.
