History
The flag of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County was adopted in 1995. Its light blue field symbolizes the Adriatic Sea, while the centered coat of arms represents the county’s coastal and mountainous character. The arms combine symbols of the medieval Gusić clan, the historic Rijeka chequy, the maritime coast, and the pine-covered Gorski Kotar region. The design was created by Heraldic Art d.o.o. of Rijeka after an earlier proposal with an inscription was rejected.
