History
The flag of Nueva Segovia is a white field with the department’s coat of arms in the center. The emblem represents the region through highland mountains, the Río Segovia, coffee branches, and a rising sun. The white field symbolizes peace and unity, while blue and green elements reflect the sky, national colors, fertility, and agriculture. It was officially adopted in the early 1990s during a broader movement to provide Nicaraguan departments with distinct flags.
