The flag of Nebraska is a national blue field with the state seal in gold and silver centered on the flag.
Nebraska’s flag was designed by Florence Hazen Miller and adopted as a state banner on April 2, 1925. It was formally designated the official state flag on July 16, 1963. The design places the state seal in gold and silver on a field of national blue. The seal, originally adopted in 1867, depicts a steamboat ascending the Missouri River, the Rocky Mountains, a train heading west, a blacksmith representing the mechanic arts, and a settler’s cabin with sheaves of wheat representing agriculture, together with the motto “Equality Before the Law.”
