The 1927–1957 flag of Idaho is a dark blue state flag with the great seal centered above a red-and-gold scroll reading “State of Idaho.”
Idaho adopted this version of its state flag on March 15, 1927. It followed the common U.S. state-flag format of a blue field with the state seal centered, with a red-and-gold banner below reading “State of Idaho.” The design grew from an earlier blue state flag and from the First Idaho Infantry’s regimental flag used during the Spanish-American War. This version remained in use until 1957, when the artwork of the seal was refreshed while the overall flag design was retained.
