Historic unofficial Florida banner with five horizontal stripes, a United States flag canton, and a white scroll on an orange stripe reading “LET US ALONE.”
The Moseley flag was flown at the inauguration of Florida’s first governor, William D. Moseley, on June 25, 1845. Its five stripes were described as blue, orange, red, white, and green, and it featured a United States flag in the canton with the slogan “Leave us alone,” expressing states-rights sentiment and opposition to northern interference. The design was not adopted as Florida’s official state flag, but it remains a notable early flag in the state’s vexillological history.
