History
Colorado adopted its current state flag on June 5, 1911, and standardized the design on March 31, 1964. The flag was designed by Andrew Carlisle Carson. Its blue stripes represent the sky, the white stripe represents the snow-capped Rocky Mountains and silver mining, the gold disk symbolizes sunshine and gold mining, and the red "C" refers to the ruddy earth and the Spanish origin of the state's name.
