Flag of the Swiss canton of Glarus: a red field charged with Saint Fridolin in black, white, and gold, holding a staff and a book.
The flag of Glarus uses Saint Fridolin as its cantonal emblem on a red field. The saint's image served as a rallying symbol by the time of the Battle of Näfels in 1388 and has remained associated with the canton ever since. The cantonal government formally regulated the exact design of the figure in 1941, following earlier variations in presentation.
