Bandera del Departamento de Ahuachapán

The flag of the Department of Ahuachapán uses a centered departmental coat of arms on a plain field, following a common Latin American subnational flag pattern. The white field is associated with peace and purity, while the emblem represents the department through volcanic landscape imagery, coffee branches, and a rising sun. The flag was officially adopted in the early 1990s during El Salvador’s decentralization reforms, and the coat of arms dates to the early 20th century.
