History
The flag represents Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras. It is used as the municipal flag of the city and serves as a civic symbol on municipal buildings, at official ceremonies, and on city documents. The municipal flag was formally adopted by city ordinance in the early 1990s, replacing earlier informal use of banners based on the national flag.
