History
This flag is associated with Aden during the period of the State of Aden within the Federation of South Arabia, formed in 1963. It reflects a shift away from the earlier British colonial ensign tradition toward a simpler regional design tied to Arab nationalist-era symbolism. Aden later came under the national flag of Yemen after the end of the federation and subsequent political changes.
