History
The flag of Zabaykalsky Krai was adopted in 2009 after the krai was formed in 2008 through the merger of Chita Oblast and Agin-Buryat Autonomous Okrug. Its green, red, and yellow palette reflects the basic colors of the regional coat of arms. Yellow represents the steppe and prosperity, green symbolizes the taiga and fauna, and red stands for mineral-rich natural resources and development.
