the Palaung people

This flag is used by the Palaung, also known as the Ta'ang, people. Its blue stripe represents the sky and aspirations for peace, the yellow stripe symbolizes rice-based agriculture, the green stripe stands for the forested hills and natural homeland, and the red sun represents spirit, bravery, and unity. The fourteen rays traditionally denote the principal Palaung sub-groups. The design emerged in the early 1990s as the banner of the Palaung State Liberation Organization and later the Palaung State Liberation Party, and it has since become a recognized ethnic flag used in cultural events, diaspora gatherings, and by Palaung organizations.
