Flag of Shan State, a yellow-green-red horizontal triband with a large white disc centered across the stripes.
The flag of Shan State is proportioned 2:3 and uses yellow, green, and red horizontal stripes with a central white disc. The yellow stripe symbolizes the wealth and cultural heritage of the Shan people, the green stripe represents fertile agricultural lands and rice paddies, the red stripe stands for bravery and historic resilience, and the white circle denotes unity, purity, and the aspiration for peaceful coexistence within Myanmar. The design dates to the mid-20th century, after the 1947 unification of the Shan States, and has remained the official flag of the state through successive national regimes.
