Flag of the Community of Madrid, a crimson-red field with seven white five-pointed stars arranged four above three in the center.
The flag of the Community of Madrid was introduced in 1983 after the establishment of the autonomous community. Its crimson-red field refers to historic Castile, and the seven white stars symbolize the Ursa Major, or Plough, constellation while also recalling the seven stars of the community’s coat of arms. The design was formally defined in the Statute of Autonomy in 1998.
