the City of San Marino

The flag of the City of San Marino is identical to the national flag of the Republic. It consists of two equal horizontal bands of white over light blue in a 3:4 proportion, with the Republic’s coat of arms centered. The white symbolizes peace and the snow-capped peaks of Monte Titano, while the light blue represents liberty and the sky. The coat of arms shows three silver towers on three green peaks, topped by a closed crown and accompanied by laurel and oak branches, with the motto LIBERTAS below. The present white-blue bicolour replaced an earlier orange, white, and purple striped banner with three towers in 1862, and the design was formally standardized on 22 July 2011.
