History
Borgo Maggiore is a castello of the Republic of San Marino on the northern slope of Mount Titano. Historically known as Mercatale, it developed as a market town. Its flag uses a white field with the castello’s heraldic shield at the center, depicting the settlement at the foot of Mount Titano with stylized hills, sky, and the clock tower of the historic center as symbols of local civic identity.
