History
Västerbottens län vapenflagga is the banner of arms of Västerbotten County. It presents the county coat of arms in flag form. The reindeer motif derives from the historic arms granted in the 16th century and is associated with the region’s forests, reindeer herding traditions, and Sami cultural heritage. The blue field is used to represent the Baltic Sea and the northern sky. The flag follows Swedish banner-of-arms practice and is used as the county’s official flag.
