Jämtlands län vapenflagga

The flag of Jämtlands län is a banner of arms based on the county coat of arms. It shows a silver elk with a golden falcon on its back and a golden dog confronting it on an azure field. The design originates from a seal used in 1635, was formally granted as a coat of arms in 1660 after Jämtland passed from Norway to Sweden in 1658, and was revised heraldically in 1935. The elk represents the region’s wildlife and hunting tradition, the falcon conveys noble heritage, and the dog symbolizes loyalty and assistance in the hunt.
