#15452 · island
The flag of Herm was designed by William Crampton and adopted around 1953 in a 3:5 proportion. It combines the red St George’s Cross with the island’s arms, whose dolphins refer to the surrounding sea and whose three Benedictine monks reflect Herm’s monastic heritage. It replaced an earlier dark blue flag used around 1950 that showed the Guernsey coat of arms with the name “HERM ISLAND” beneath.
