Flag of Ulaanbaatar featuring a light blue field with the city emblem in yellow at the center.
The flag of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, uses a light blue field symbolizing the eternal blue sky. Its central yellow emblem draws on Soyombo-style symbolism associated with eternal growth, the sun and moon, and vigilance. The yellow color honors Tibetan Buddhism, and the flag was adopted in the mid-1990s as a distinct municipal banner after Mongolia’s democratic transition.
