Flag of El Quiché, Guatemala, with a white field, a vertical yellow hoist stripe, and the departmental coat of arms centered.
The flag represents the Guatemalan department of El Quiché. Its white field symbolizes peace, purity, and the highland sky, while the yellow stripe represents the sun, mineral wealth, and Maya heritage. The centered coat of arms incorporates a resplendent quetzal for liberty, corn and coffee for agriculture, a mountain silhouette for the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes, and a Maya glyph referring to Quiché. The design was formally adopted in the mid-1990s as a distinct departmental symbol.
