History
Taoyuan City's flag uses the municipality's emblem on a plain white field, following a common pattern seen among Taiwanese special municipalities. The design was selected in a public competition in 1971 and continued in use after Taoyuan was elevated to special municipality status on 25 December 2014. The emblem combines peach and garden imagery associated with the city's name and is also intended to evoke Taoyuan's agricultural heritage and aviation role.
